Utsavam ( The Annual Festival of the Lord) |
| The annual Utsavam of the temple is celebrated during
the Malayalam month of Kumbham (Feb.- March). The Kodiyettu (flag
hoisting ceremony as a prelude to the festival) takes place on Avittam
day and Arattu ( bathing ceremony of The Lord marking the end of the
festival) on the tenth day of Kodiyettu, usually falling on Rohini
day. The ten days’ Utsavam is conducted with full religious
fervor adhering to the traditional rituals and the cultural programmes
staged in connection with the Utsavam give emphasis to the performance
of ancient Temple arts also along with music and dance. |
